Project

Toranomon hq office

Location

toranomon, tokyo

Scope

interior design

Working alongside the internationally acclaimed interior design firm GARDE, Toranomon HQ office was an office relocation for the global technology company. Our tasks included working within the clients strict workplace design guidelines that achieved a coherence to its global offices while still incorporating the local Japanese elements.

The guideline includes first and foremost a limited use of colour’s. Primarily using a range of grey/blue neutral colour’s with simplicity and high tech qualities is a must. We purposely chose materials that reflect Japan’s history of craft and making, specifically the use of tiles and wallpapers that is used primarily exclusively in Japan.

Rhythm and pattern are intrinsic to the work of client and were a core component when designing for the breakout spaces. The wood louvres and the geometry and pattern of these components, create a unified language against their global design.

As the materials and concept lead, VS Studio were tasked in creating all 3D modeling and renderings, material sourcing and selection, and construction drawings for bid. Working alongside Garde, VS Studio lead the role of concept design and helped Garde complete the project from schematic to the construction phase.
